“Our initial consultation with Ian was so different from the meetings we had with either of (our) previous solicitors – not only did you infuse us with confidence that J would be handled as an individual and his situation and emotional state would be taken into account, but … you indicated he was understood and inspired a great deal of trust.”

Serious crime
We have defended in some of the most notorious criminal cases of the past decade. We represented Danilo Restivo (R v Restivo) at Winchester Crown Court who was tried for the murder of Heather Barnett. We also represented the only client to be acquitted in the Becky Watts murder trial at Bristol Crown Court. We represented Vincent Tabak (R v Vincent Tabak) who was tried for the murder of Joanna Yeates at Bristol Crown Court.
Fraud
Over the past 30 years our specialist fraud team, led by Ian Kelcey, has defended in some of the highest profile fraud cases in Bristol, the West Country and as far afield as Leeds and Birmingham. We achieved the acquittal of a client in Winchester Crown Court in what was then the longest running fraud trial in England,(R v Pound & Others), as well as the only acquittal in Birmingham Crown Court of a defendant in a large scale VAT fraud.
Sexual crime
Due to the increased willingness to prosecute defendants in sexual cases, we have seen a vast increase in both current and historic prosecutions for all types of sexual offences. We have gained a reputation for proactive advice and fearless legal representation and as result have achieved a high proportion of acquittals.
Drug related crime
We have dealt with a high proportion of drug charges ranging from international, large-scale importation of drugs to conspiracies within the UK and also industrial-level growing of cannabis, often achieving success for our clients.
Youth crime
We have a dedicated team of lawyers, overseen by Billy Olaniyi, experienced in representing clients in the Youth Court. We aim to deal with matters in a sensitive and yet robust way where the need arises.
